My birthday was earlier this week, and it’s been a great one, despite my mom going through a health crisis (read about it on my Facebook page). After we left the medical center for her daily treatment, she said “there’s one more thing we need to do before we go home.” I was worrying about getting home before the traffic got bad, but we pulled into a nearby driveway and walked into a flower shop. My mood changed when she told me to pick out whatever flowers I wanted for a special birthday bouquet! I was so touched, and really enjoyed finding all the warm-colored things I could 🙂 Well, not ALL of them…that would have been 5 bouquets worth! My mom is particularly good at talking to people in such a way that they just open up to her, and the cashier was asking her questions about where she was from (he could tell she wasn’t a native Texan!) and after a few minutes of banter, he decided the price on the calla lilies dropped and that some white roses just happened to sneak in. We were so surprised! That’s one of my mom’s many talents…connecting with people. There are no walls when she starts talking to someone. Anyway, he didn’t exactly arrange the flowers a whole lot, so I tried to do my best when I put them into a vase the next day. I’ve always known that flower arranging is an art and that the average person can’t just whip up an awesome bouquet, but trying to do it on my own REALLY solidified this fact for me! Hire a professional, people!
These are sitting in the living room under the skylight looking gorgeous and smelling wonderful. Thanks to my amazing Mumsy for such a beautiful gift on my birthday 🙂 I love you!
