Casey and Evan’s Green Pastures Wedding

March 13, 2013

I LOVE Casey and Evan! Their energy is the kind that makes you want to be around them! We had mutual trust and kinship that you always hope for with your clients. Casey works as a civil engineer, and just passed the professional engineering (PE) exam in October! She works at Cobb, Fendly & Associates as a design engineer working with roadway and telecom utility design. Evan is a lawyer at OneWest Bank, and he audits financial documents pertaining to foreclosures. So yeah, not only are they fantastic people, but they’re super smart, too 🙂 They like to bowl (I know this from personal experience!), play pitch and putt golf and disc golf, read, watch Law & Order: SVU (hell yes!), cook, take weekend trips, wander around places, and play fantasy football. They love all the same sports teams, except when it comes to football. Casey likes the Cowboys and Evan likes the Packers (check out the groom’s cake!), but they still love and respect each other. If that’s not a testament to their commitment, I don’t know what is! 🙂

How they met:

Casey and Evan met at a Spurs game in November of 2010. Casey went with her friend Jerrad, and he invited some friends, one of which was Evan. They just really  hit it off, and even though Evan had just graduated from law school and was working in San Antonio at a family law firm, they started spending every weekend together. She’d wake up at 5am, drive out to San Antonio, and then drive back. In February of the following year, Evan got a job at the Capitol Committee on Natural Resources in Austin. And well, the rest is history!

How he proposed:

On December 23, 2011, Evan proposed to Casey in Austin. They were exchanging gifts for Christmas, and after the stockings, he said “I have one more gift for you.” Then he proposed! Excitement ensued. They celebrated at Matt’s El Rancho on S Lamar, which is totally their celebration station.

The wedding:

The wedding was held at the beautiful Green Pastures Restaurant in south Austin on what turned out to be a gorgeous day in January. Their colors were purple and coral, which I happen to think go smashingly! Casey even had a purple accent on her gorgeous lace dress, which was a satin ribbon around her waist. Casey’s dress was definitely one of my favorites, partly because of its gorgeous ivory creaminess, but also because of the lace, which covered the entire dress and then fell in two layers. It fit her so beautifully and we made sure to get lots of pictures of the train! I was also  in love with the groom and groomsmen’s gray suits – it just looked so good with those colors, plus it’s a little different (you know how I love things that are a little different!). Casey’s friend Erin had purple in her wedding too,  so they were able to reuse some of her bridesmaid’s dresses – brilliant! Casey’s friend Monica saved the day numerous times with her ingenious solutions to all problems, one one of which was the ribbon on Casey’s dress, which had been designed differently than she imagined. Monica knew exactly what to do! Casey and her mom were so sweet together. My mom and I have an amazing relationship, so when I see another mother-daughter relationship that reminds me of mine, it fills my heart up.

Casey and Evan’s first look was priceless, and some of my favorite shots were taken while they exuded excitement, joy, and love right after seeing their soul mate in their wedding clothes. Originally, they were to be married outside after dark surrounded by twinkle and party lights, but the forecast was looking rather foreboding, so the ceremony was moved inside. Luckily, Green Pastures has a gorgeous ball room. The ceremony was so touching, and there were some very cute moments thanks to Casey’s dad and Evan’s “man” hug, and the flower girl’s “AMEN!” after the officiant proclaimed some absolute truth. The officiant was so expressive and put so much thought and care into the ceremony, especially since she was a last-minute substitute. After the ceremony, it was party time! And I must say – this was one of the most awesome parties yet! Casey and Evan are definitely the most expressive and most fun-loving dancers I’ve seen in awhile, and even their parents and grandparents broke it down near the end; I guess it runs in the family! It was an unforgettable celebration. Congrats, Casey and Evan! I’m grateful I was a part of this once-in-a-lifetime event <3
