Greetings, and welcome to my longest blog post ever! You’re about to find out why.
Erin and Shayne’s last names combine into “fellock”, and they kind of had the coolest wedding I’ve ever been to. The venue, first of all, is Casa Rio De Colores, which looks like Lucy in Disguise as a wedding venue. That’s almost exactly what it is, since they’re both owned by the same fantastic lady. Second of all, this couple knew how to have a good time with their nuptials. Erin’s dress was handmade and sported a beautiful aqua octopus print, Shayne had a beautiful handlebar mustache (as did all his groomsmen), there was a handmade unicorn Erin’s stepfather turned into a functioning keg (aka, THE BEERICORN), and they even have their own logo, which was mindfully printed on sunglasses, cups, koozies, and Mr. Beericorn’s glorious haunches. Erin’s twin sister officiated in some pretty spiffy duds, and Shayne’s high school sign language interpreter stepped in so that everyone could experience the ceremony, which meant a lot to them.
The story of how they met is also adorable. They were both working at Texas School for the Deaf, and Shayne was very interested in Erin…she didn’t really think much about him, except that she noticed his haircut reminded her of an ex-con. But eventually he won her heart, with the help of a haircut, and they were married on August 17, 2013 near Austin TX. And the rest is history!
Back to the wedding. There is so much goodness here. Everyone had a ton of fun and I loved the relaxed and vibrant dress code. I also love how Erin and Shayne’s friends show their love by repeatedly force feeding them various substances. Oh, did I mention the bridesmaids’ dresses were also handmade, featuring a mustache print? (Erin actually sewed her ladies’ clutches with leftover dress fabric) Did I mention the epic photo booth furnished by the fellocks themselves with a custom sign and shot by my talented second Suzanne Pressman? Did I mention Erin made her own bouquet out of paper? Did I mention that you could swim in the river before the ceremony and camp on the property after partying? And the Airstream? And the snow cone truck??? But wait! There’s more. Just see the pictures. Take it from Erin and Shayne: You can do your wedding YOUR OWN way!
