It was so cold that day, and the clouds threatened to rain on us. Cold is one thing, but wet and cold is another! We were all worried, seeing as the ceremony was taking place outside. When I arrived at the Sheraton hotel, Megan was starting her makeup and her hair was in curlers, a visual treat! The room was small, but it was filled with excitement, love, and children that managed to get into anything and everything they shouldn’t. I felt like a part of the family being in that room, witnessing Megan tearfully profess how much she loves and appreciates her family and dear friends as she presented them with thoughtful gifts, many of which were pieces of jewelry they could wear during the wedding. I knew the cold wouldn’t stop anyone from celebrating this day.
Megan and Chris adore each other, and they are playmates. Joking around and basking in their partner’s brilliance (or not-so-brilliance) is commonplace and pretty fun to be around! Their dry wit has “gotten” me several times. They love life, each other, their families, and not taking things too seriously. These people reallllly know how to celebrate! You’ll see once you get to the dancing pictures! The party was fantastic and the bright yellow and orange hues of the outside of the building brought a little warmth back into the day.
The ceremony was outside, and there were shivers everywhere, but it was worth it. The first dances were so beautiful. I loved the moment where Megan’s dad put his hat on her head, and when Chris and his mom cried through the entire dance. I’ll never forget the way Chris retrieved his bride’s garter! You just need to see the pictures.
My favorite non-tear-inducing moment was when Megan and Chris were nowhere to be found, until we discovered that to eat their dinner and have a few minutes together, they had ducked into the bathroom. Now, that’s a first! The dollar dance was hilarious and the speeches, well…never before have I seen so many people toast a couple. I lost count! They are so very loved.
This wedding was a labor of love, with many hours put in by family members and friends to create the decor, from the center pieces to the flowers to the hand-painted welcome signs, and even the food! Family was also responsible for setting up, and everything pulled together just in time! All involved should give themselves a big pat on the back, because it was a beautiful wedding!

I love it when the wind takes a bride’s veil into the air during poignant moments!
The cake on the right is the groom’s cake. The bottles are real, but the rest is all cake!
