The Sims family came to me from the Austin Montessori School, where I began my formal education at the adorable age of 2 1/2. After connecting so deeply with the Snyder family, I knew that I wanted to work with more Montessori families. I donated a family session during their 2013 Fiesta Auction (this year’s action is April 5; check under the Giving tab for more info) and the Sims family won! At first we looked for a park, but mom suggested we shoot at the Barr Mansion, which is where they were married a decade ago. It must have been so meaningful to come back to the place where their family was established with their three children. Since mom is a photographer herself, they have some great shots of the kiddos on their own, but not many with them and their kids! We played and laughed and ran and created sweet memories. I tried to get some beautiful shots of mom by herself, and she’s so happy I did:
“We both loved the pictures and were so pleased you managed to capture some beautiful images despite the kids’ rambunctious mood. I imagine some day when I’m old & gray(er) or maybe even gone, my grown babies and their babies will treasure this photo of me. Not to mention the one of Mari and I, and …oh no – now I’m crying! What a gift you’ve given us! Thank you!”
This family’s outfits are a great example of how to coordinate but not match, by the way 🙂
“Laugh as loudly and as obnoxiously as you can!” always produces some pretty spectacular results 🙂
